Our mission
To provide compassionate, client-focused mental health support, aiding individuals in achieving their happiest and healthiest lives. We are committed to offering psychological services that foster personal growth and well-being. Acknowledging the distinctiveness of each client, we celebrate and respect their cultural heritage, family structures, values, and personal identities.
Our Aproach
We take a holistic approach to counseling, focusing on the mind, body, and spirit. Our counselor is trained in a variety of evidence-based techniques and therapies to help our clients achieve optimal mental health.
Meet
Virginia possesses a remarkable empathy and agape love, allowing her to genuinely care for all her clients. Throughout her diverse careers; businesswoman, international trainer, legal and accounting assistant, and high school teacher, Virginia’s passion has always been drawn towards mental health services.
She is a joyful and proud fiancée, a mother of five happy and accomplished children, and a grandmother to seven grandchildren. In her leisure time, she delights in crafting an array of artworks, fishing, swimming, gardening, and tending to her expanding brood of farm birds and her five dogs.
Experience
Since returning to college in her 40s, Virginia has dedicated her life to helping others find hope, healing, and peace.
She began her counseling career in Arizona, supporting individuals with serious mental illness through AHCCCS, where she developed programs to improve daily functioning, self-esteem, and self-worth. During the onset of COVID-19, she served as a virtual therapist with Lifeline PCS, continuing to support clients during a time of widespread uncertainty.
After relocating to Illinois, Virginia worked as a school counselor for K–12 students, taught mental health classes, and oversaw grant-funded services. She also counseled clients of all ages at Massac County Mental Health Clinic, addressing concerns ranging from anxiety and depression to trauma and grief.
Outside of clinic hours, she provided crisis support to inmates at the local jail and patients in the emergency room at Massac County Hospital.

Who is Astral Perceptions?
I’ve always found the night sky a source of wonder and inspiration. Years ago, while gazing at the stars, I imagined how our sun and solar system might look from the perspective of a distant star. That moment inspired the name Astral Perceptions—meaning “from the star’s perspective.”
As a licensed professional counselor associate, I’m continually reminded that, like stars, each person sees the world through their own unique lens. Understanding my clients’ experiences from their perspective is both humbling and awe-inspiring.
